True: Whoever speaks the truth and does not lie.

Count on a nice pace, with a high information density, lots of confrontational questions, new language and anthropological concepts to interpret the dynamics of change processes. Understanding liminal leadership to guide these processes.

Jitske Kramer shares insights from her research into the opportunities, temptations and dangers of this liminal time. And, we warn, there are no quick tips, ready-made answers or clear direction to go with the tricky interim period. What we do need are anthropological insights that offer a foothold in the perceived chaos. About the liminal leadership needed to achieve successful transformation. Insights and knowledge that enable you to optimise change processes.

“Indeed, these are rather tricky times, it couldn't be more topical. Jitske Kramer's appeal: be autonomous, sincere and open.”

No ready-made to-do lists with tips you can apply immediately tomorrow, but plenty of food for thought and deeper insights you can use in your practice.

The Tricky Times Masterclass is based on The book Tricky Times, which you will receive at the end of this masterclass. Click the button below to go to the page where we have collected all the podcasts, interviews and articles on this topic.

Looking in the mirror together

Any major change or transformation involves letting go of the familiar, pushing boundaries, challenging the established order, mocking sacred symbols and challenging authorities. During this day, you will gain a deep understanding about the dynamics of change and what this requires of leadership. Jitske compellingly unravels the human patterns of radical change.

She gives meaning to the confusing interim, a complex transition phase when you leave something behind, while the new situation has not yet fully penetrated and shaped. Transformation is a time of fundamental questions. In addition to Jitske's keynotes, Prof Dr Paul Iske teaches you about brilliant failures and Joris Luyendijk is interviewed by Dolf Jansen about the changing world order and what this requires of politics, organisations and leadership.

“What an impact! This is without a doubt the best development day I have experienced my entire career. Yes, really, and I say that at 65, after going through many trainings and events. ”

For whom.

A must for anyone involved in change processes, transitions and transformations. In society and in organisations. For people interested in the dynamics of change. For leaders, administrators, politicians. For journalists, communication professionals. For consultants, trainers, facilitators and others who guide change processes.

This master class is also well suited to with your whole team to follow, to then talk further with each other the next day itself about what the insights gained mean for your organisation.

The programme

Jitske Kramer looks in the mirror with everyone present.
Dolf Jansen leads the day as MC and interviewer. With music we frame the whole thing - music captures that which cannot always be said, but can be felt.

Between lectures, Dolf will enter into conversation with anthropologist and journalist Joris Luyendijk. In a sharp and urgent conversation, they dive into today's geopolitical reality together.

  • How does America change from ‘great protector’ to ‘great threat’?
  • What patterns does he see emerging?
  • And what does that mean for us, here in the Netherlands?
  • With the central question: how should leaders and organisations relate to this new world order?

Get ready for an intense day. Full of insights. Questions. Answers. And more questions. With anthropological knowledge and concepts that are surprisingly topical and provide much food for thought. With insights that make you look at the world with greater clarity, so that you can improve the processes of change in your life, family, city or organisation. Three lectures by Jitske Kramer and a lecture by Prof Dr Paul Iske, Chief Failure Officer of the Institute for Brilliant Failures.

Tricky times keynote

According to many, Jitske Kramer is one of the best speakers in the Netherlands. Connecting, humorous, open-minded and energetic. A female speaker, with a fine voice. She stimulates strong thinking. With beautiful photos, film clips of her travels, surprising insights and new connections. Effortlessly, she draws people in. ‘Normally I am easily distracted, but I could have listened for hours more’.

Her Tricky Times lecture focuses on the dynamics we see in our society. Lingering issues that have developed into crises at about the same time. Everything is interrelated and one solution in turn affects other issues. As a society, we are going through a tricky transition period of major changes. After explaining the three stages of transformation, it becomes clear that liminality offers many opportunities, but also dangers.

Book Jitske for your conference or event? You can! The Tricky Times lecture can be focused on society, or focus more on what this requires of liminal leadership in organisations and each of us. Ideally, this lecture should last 60 to 90 minutes, but shorter or longer is also possible. Everything by mutual agreement.
